ITV The Chase fans cringe over contestant's answer to Merseyside question

Viewers of The Chase were left cringing over a contestant's answer to a Merseyside themed question.

On Wednesday April 12, contestants Kathryn, Lynne, Dan, and Kieran stepped up to take on the Governess. But it was second contestant Lynne's face off with the Chaser that would have viewers from one part of Merseyside in stitches.

Earning a respectable £5,000 in her cash builder, hopes were high for 63-year-old retired teacher Lynne. However, the first question stumped the Newcastle-born contestant.

Bradley Walsh asked: "What is the name of the home stadium of the rugby league club St Helens?"

The options given to Lynne were: Super Cool Stadium, Totally Wicked Stadium, or Well Sick Stadium. For anyone from Merseyside, the answer should be resoundingly obvious, with Saints' home ground being named the Totally Wicked Stadium as part of a partnership with an electronic cigarette company.

To viewers' dismay however, Lynne chose Super Cool Stadium as her answer, along with Chaser Anne Hegerty. Lynne said: "If it would have been a football stadium I'd have been okay, but I don't like rugby."

This wouldn't be a sign of things to come for Lynne however, as she managed to outrun the Chaser and take back £5,000 to her team. It didn't stop people heading to Facebook to comment on her error however.

Daniel Jackman said: "Omg how can you not know the BEST Rugby league team stadium."

While Danny Harrison said: "All three are equally ridiculous in fairness."
