Fans of The Chase called out other viewers for fat shaming a contestant.
Many chose to tweet along live with the award-winning quiz show, often making predictions on who is going to go high and how the team will do in the final chase.
But today, a handful of viewers took to tweeting cruel jibes at a hopeful on the ITV programme on Twitter.
Kathy, a 47-year-old accountant technician for the government was hoping to bag some cash so she could take her husband, Andy to see the Northern Lights to mark their 25th wedding anniversary.
But before she even reached the podium for the cash builder some were judging her on her appearance.
Other devoted fans took issue with this and called them out of the social media website.
One, @iamagiraffe said: "Wow everyone is being vile today. I hope Kathy doesn't have twitter."
Another, @John_Burns1 said: "Twitter is sometimes an unnecessarily nasty place during #TheChase. Today is one of those times."
A third, @JCH99 said: "I'm fat and would feel patronised if anyone called me anything but fat. I don't want people patronising me and maybe Kath is the same. She seems like a lovely lady."
Kathy, who is a sloe gin enthusiast and regularly wins local competitions for it in her hometown of Romney Marsh, had an impressive first round and racked up £6,000.
She made it passed chaser Shaun Wallace to join her fellow teammates, Phil, 53, from Cardiff and Becky, 32, from Leeds, for the final chase to play for £14,000.
Unfortunately, in the final round the team struggled and only managed to score 14, despite executing two push backs, the Dark Destroyer caught them with eight seconds to spare.
*The Chase is on ITV1, weekdays from 5pm (This was a repeat from series 9)
