ITV The Chase contestant hits out at fans on Twitter

Regular viewers of The Chase will know that tweeting alongside is a must but it's can be a brutal place if you happen to be a contestant.

Sometimes though, the players hit back - and this is exactly what happened this evening.

ITV showed a repeat of an episode from series nine which saw Steve Garland from Leeds take on Paul "The Sinnerman" Sinha.

He tweeted: "My episode of the #thechase is currently airing on ITV and I'm enjoying all the people calling me a w***** again."

But he didn't stop there, the self-confessed "flouncy drama type", called out viewers being mean about his appearance on the award-winning gameshow.

To people who called him "annoying", he sarcastically said: "thanks guys".

When one tweeted: "I bet Steve uses cheesy chat up lines."

He said: "Oh man... is that the vibe I give off?"

They quickly retracted and replied: "Nah I was joking lol."

When someone said: "Was about to turn the TV off then @LadyGarland33 turns up on the chase - it’s a repeat just tell me what happens."

He said: "I stole an apple and a packet of crisps from the green room..."

Steve, who was 27 at the time of recording the show back in 2015, banked £6,000 and was joined in the final chase by Mari-Anne who brought back £3,000.

He put in an impressive performance in the final chase helping them get 14 correct answers but it wasn't enough and they left with nothing.

*The Chase is on ITV1, weekdays from 5pm (This was a repeat from series nine)
