ITV Starstruck: What time it is on, who are the judges and host, where you've seen them before and how it works

Saturday night's alright... when you have some brand new entertainment shows to watch.

If you're not spending your weekends heading, you may be settling down on the sofa and looking to keep yourself occupied with a new TV show.

Well, Starstruck is the latest offering from ITV and it begins tonight, Saturday February 12.

It begins at 8.30pm on ITV, following the final of The Masked Singer, and from next Saturday (February 19) it will join Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway in the Saturday night's viewing.

So, here's everything else you need to know about the brand new show.

What is it about?

Starstruck is being likened to hit 90s and noughties show, Stars in Their Eyes.

The programme sees teams of super-fans transform into their idols to compete against other teams.

As ITV explains: "Leaving their day jobs behind, members of the public will be transformed into their most beloved music star for one night only. But they won’t be on stage alone. Instead, they’ll be teaming up as trios who all share the same love of a music icon to give the performance of a lifetime.

"With an expert glam team to oversee their extraordinary transformation, impressive staging and a spectacular sound and light show, our singing stars will be getting the complete ‘superstar experience’.

"Each episode will culminate in an exciting finale which sees the winning trio compete against each other for a place in the grand final and the chance to walk away with that life-changing sum of cash."

And that life-changing sum is a whopping £50,000!

From Ariana Grande to Lady Gaga, and Elton John to Tina Tuner - viewers will see them all.

Who is the host?

Hosting Starstruck is Olly Murs.

It is the first time the Heart Skips a Beat and Dance With Me Tonight singer has hosted a Saturday night show since his stint on The X Factor and Xtra Factor.

He last hosted the singing competitions spin-off show alongside the late Caroline Flack in 2012.

Essex-born Olly, 37, has since become a coach on The Voice UK.

Who are the judges?

A talent competition isn't complete without a panel of judges - and there are plenty of big names.

First up we have BAFTA award-winning actress Sheridan Smith OBE.

The actress has starred in Cilla, Mrs Biggs, and The C Word to name just a few, as well as working on the West End in Legally Blonde and Funny Girl.

Speaking about the show, Sheridan said: "Growing up, I always loved watching Saturday night TV with my family so I’m thrilled to be joining Starstruck.

"Creating Cilla Black for TV, I know first-hand how much goes into becoming an iconic music star, so I can't wait to see what some of the contestants do with our modern music acts and true icons."

Joining Sheridan is Salford's very own Jason Manford.

The comedian and actor is no stranger to a sing-song himself having appeared in numerous stage musicals in the West End and across the UK such as Sweeney Todd, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Guys and Dolls.

He said: "After years of being on stage, judged every night, it’s my turn to sit and do the judging! I adore talented people, so I’m very proud to be part of a show that’s going to let them show off. They're ticking off a super entertaining bucket list moment and we get to be part of it."

Also on the judging panel will be singer and musical theatre star Beverley Knight.

Beverley Knight is one of the judges (ITV)

The 48-year-old has had a glittering career as a recording artist and stage actor and is currently starring as Faye Treadwell, the manager of The Drifters, in the new musical The Drifters Girl.

Beverley said: "Every show we get to witness ordinary people emulate extraordinary icons on a huge scale and I’m so here for it! I’m looking forward to hearing and seeing those spectacular transformations and being a cheerleader for every contestant."

And last, but by no means least, is Adam Lambert who completes the panel.

Queen frontman Adam Lambert (ITV)

The singer rose to fame when he came runner-up on American Idol in 2009.

He has sold millions of singles and albums worldwide and has spent the last 11 years appearing as Queen's frontman - touring the world and releasing albums.

Adam, 40, said: "I am so excited to be involved in Starstruck. I loved the idea from the moment I heard about it, and it’s going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to watch people transform into their idols!

"After the year everyone has been through, let’s come together through creativity and music and have a good time!"
