At the end of a rather eventful week for the ITV drama, with Kenny Doughty's departure, the Vera set has had a switch of location, with the move coming as fans speculate on what is next for the much loved show.
Having dropped a massive hint that he'd called time on his role as DS Aiden Healy in a cryptic Instagram post, actor Kenny returned to the social media platform to go public with the news that he was leaving Vera, after eight years of playing Brenda Blethyn's famous on-screen sidekick.
His announcement came as a big upset to Vera fans, especially after they said goodbye to another popular cast member, Paul Kaye, just a few months earlier. Kenny will be seen as DS Healy one last time in still to air 'special' episode The Rising Tide, but at present, ITV bosses are staying tight lipped on what the future holds for Vera in the long term.

However, one thing they have confirmed is that the location where a number of Vera sets, including the exterior of the fictional Northumbria & City Police station, are stored has changed. For years, they have been in Oceana Business Park on Davy Bank, near Wallsend, the same location as the Geordie Shore house.
But the sets have now been shifted up to North Tyneside, to be housed in storage at a location in Killingworth. Confirming the move to ChronicleLive, an ITV spokesperson said: "The Oceana Business Park is being sold so the Killingworth site is being used for storage. "
The old location of the Vera set was made public by a number of Geordie Shore cast members, including Charlotte Crosby, who loved the fact they were filming right next to the cast of the hit drama and joking that leading lady Brenda could join Geordie Shore.
