ITV's Vera cast shake-up sees Happy Valley and EastEnders stars join as big names quit

Vera fans will need to get used to a big change of personnel for drama's new series as a host of well known faces from other big TV shows join the cast, right after two of its biggest names quit.

Just months after Vera series 12 wrapped up on ITV, with dramatic finale The Darkest Evening, details of the next run of the much loved Sunday night favourite have now been released and viewers need to brace themselves for three more feature length murder mysteries as Brenda Blethyn's famous alias DCI Stanhope gets back on the case.

Weeks after the last series of Vera ended, fans were sent reeling by the news that Kenny Doughty was leaving his role as DS Aiden Healy, after eight years of playing Vera's sidekick and then there was a further blow to viewers, when it was also revealed that Ibinabo Jack jad also decided to quit, to focus on theatre commitments.

In another big bit of casting news, it was then announced that, almost a decade after his exit as Joe Ashworth, David Leon was coming back to reunite with Brenda and he has now been seen on set alongside the BAFTA winning actress, as filming gets underway in Northumberland.

Amd David's return isn't the only thing fans need to look out for, as ITV have confirmed a whole host of famous stars will be involved in series 113.

They include Amit Shah, most famous for playing the murderous doctor in the third and final series of Happy Valley.; Stephen Lord, a former EastEnders actor, who played Jace Dyer in the BBC soap in the 00s, Rhiannon Clements, very well known to Hollyoaks viewers for being ruthless villain Summer Ranger and ex Dinnerladies star Andrew Dunn.

Other actors confirmed to appear in series 13 opener Fast Love include Patrick McNamee (Our Girl, Inspector George Gently), Bryan Dick (Ridley, The Split), Samantha Seager (Coronation Street, This is Vanity), Beruce Khan (War of the Worlds, The Capture) and television newcomers Travis Ross, Evie Hargreaves and Susan Jayne-Robinson.
