Trigger Point left ITV viewers divided over how it ended, as the identity of the real villain shook Vicky McLure's character Lana Washington to the core.
After a main character was killed off at the end of the first episode, Trigger Point has proved to be rather gripping and addictive TV, with an average of 9 million viewers tuning in every Sunday night to see Line of Duty star Vicky at the centre of the action as explosives expert Lana.
We've seen Vicky's new on screen alias face a race against time to stop a bomb going off in a building with a man trapped inside and rocked by the death of her brother.

And there was a shocking turn of events in the last episode when her love interest Karl, played by former Hollyoaks star Warren Brown, was revealed to be the mastermind behind the attacks Lana had been in the thick of, including the one in episode five when she escaped with her life after a bomb went off in a university building.
While the prime suspect was John Hudson, with him being seen making a mysterious phone call last week, moments before the bomb went off, Karl revealed he was responsible, in some very dramatic scenes on ITV, when he threatened to push the button on the bomb he was wearing, before being shot.
It wasn't just Lana that was shocked, with scores of viewers at home also blind sided by how things panned out.
Taking to Twitter, just as ITV confirmed a second series, one posted: "Absolutely loved the ending of @ITV #TriggerPoint tonight @Vicky_McClure was amazing from start finish... gutted its finished but buzzing its coming back for series 2, even if I have gotta wait til 2023."
Equally impressed, another tweeted: "What a brilliant ending and @Vicky_McClure just keeps getting better and better!!!"
However, others were left feeling the complete opposite, claiming the conclusion was 'dull' and 'predictable.'
One critic blasted: "Just so disappointing, what a boring ending," and, in agreement, another unimpressed viewer reacted: "what a disappointing ending to an underwhelming series!"
Confirming a second series and praising writer Daniel Brierley,, ITV's head of drama, Polly Hill commented: "I am so delighted to see Trigger Point return. Vicky is stunning as Lana and it’s brilliantly produced by Jed and HTM, but I also want to congratulate Daniel for his scripts.
"To have held the audience in a state of tension for 6 hours so brilliantly, you can’t believe it’s his first show. I can’t wait to see where series two takes Lana and her team.”
