Proposing to your partner live on TV can be a bit risky but although he received the yes he was after many viewers found the live proposal on ITV's morning show This Morning very cringey. In the episode that aired on Valentine's day This Morning helped Dan plan a perfect proposal for his girlfriend Ellen.
They hired out a restaurant in London and unknown to Ellen the diners and waiters were actually dancers and singers. Live on air the waiter burst into a rendition of Marry You by Bruno Mars and the fellow diners began dancing around. Once Dan and Ellen were in the middle of the dance circle the dancers showed they were wearing tee-shirts that said "will you marry me" and Dan got on one knee and popped the question. While Ellen said yes, through her tears, many viewers were not impressed by the proposal.

One said: "I'm as romantic as the next person but this is the ultimate in cringe I'd have killed the husband if he'd pulled this b**locks #ThisMorning" and another said: "Omg! Cringe!!!! Good luck to them but that was bad! #ThisMorning" followed by three crying emojis.
A third said: "Never thought it was physically possible for my toes to curl but here we are #thismorning" and: "As soon as the singing started I'd have been out of there #ThisMorning". A fifth said: "That singer and those dancers cringe #ThisMorning" followed by a face palm emoji.
Both Dan and Ellen became emotional during the proposal and hosts of This Morning Dermot O'Leary and Josie Gibson also became a little choked up in the studio. Josie said: "That is beautiful!" while Dermot added: "Oh man!...we are welling up over here".
After the proposal and Dan and Ellen headed into the This Morning studio, to see the show live and chat with Dermot and Josie. Ellen said she was "absolutely gobsmacked" and she didn't have a clue about the proposal.
