ITV's This Morning viewers all say the same thing after Buckingham Palace confusion

This Morning faced a switch up today as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield presented live from Buckingham Palace. The duo headed to the royal house to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, which marks Her Majesty's 70 years on the throne.

ITV announced they would be moving Tuesday's This Morning to Buckingham Palace on Monday, May 23. An exclusive invitation was shared on the show, leaving Holly close to tears.

It read: "Dear Mr Schofield and Ms Willoughby, you have been given a royal appointment for tomorrow, as we will be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.

"You will be taking a look back at the Queen's magnificent 70 years of sovereign, with a host of special guests. We look forward to welcoming you live from 10 o'clock tomorrow morning as the celebrations begin at Buckingham Palace."

The Royal Family also tweeted, writing on Twitter: "As we get closer to the #PlatinumJubilee Celebration Weekend, @thismorning will be broadcast live from Buckingham Palace today."

But while Holly and Phil began the show at the Queen's London home, many were left frustrated after they announced they were heading back to the studio after just one hour. Alison Hammond then revealed she would be hosting the remainder of the show whil Holly and Phil travelled back.

Many took to social media to question why the whole segment hadn't taken place at Buckingham Palace. One viewer wrote: "I'm sure Holly & Phil made a big song and dance yesterday that they were doing the entirety of today's #ThisMorning from Buckingham Palace."

While another added: "They're not even at Buckingham Palace for the whole show Queen Liz has given them an hour #ThisMorning," and a third questioned: "I thought the whole show was being conducted in the big house."

And a fourth asked: "What's the point of having This Morning live from Buckingham Palace if u only are gonna do a hour thsts it then go bk to the studio #ThisMorning."

The segment saw the This Morning take tours of the marble room, state room, kitchens and gardens. While horticultural expert David Domoney explored the gardens and chef Phil Vickery discovered how many sandwiches are prepared for the Queen's garden parties.

Holly and Phil also spoke to Gyles Brandreth in the bow room, who reflected on his memories of the royal family, while Gok Wan took a look back at the Queen's iconic style choices in the picture galleries.

Fans were divided by the royal episode with one writing: "Loving this programme from Buckingham Palace! I've got my bunting ready, bring on the Jubilee party!"

While others said they were "switching off" the programme. For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
