Pen ink has to be the bane of every parent's life. No matter what you do, it always seems to stay there, even if only faintly - and you know it'll be replaced with another similar stain by the end of the week anyway.
So when Lynsey Crombie, the self-styled Queen of Clean, appeared on ITV's This Morning promising a top tip on how to remove ink stains, parents across the country rejoiced in their living rooms.
The trick is remarkably simple - and surprising. The secret is milk. As Crombie later said on Instagram: "Who would have thought that milk could remain stains, but trust me, it works.

"I was told this tip years ago by one of the girl’s nursery schoolteachers, had to put it to the test and if you soak just the pen mark in milk, trust me it comes out. Don’t worry about the milk as this comes out with ease."
On the show she added: "I have tested this. I wouldn't bring the tip on if it didn't work.
"You just need to dip it in the [glass of] milk. Leave it overnight if you can. I don't know the science behind it, but milk is made up of about 80 per cent water and 20 per cent fats. The fats break the ink down."
Crombie's other tips included using shaving foam to remove carpet stains and washing up liquid to tackle tea and coffee stains. Watch the segment at around the 46-minute mark on Thursday's This Morning on ITV Hub.
This Morning airs every weekday on ITV from 10am - 12.30pm.
