ITV's This Morning breaks silence to deny Phil and Holly 'jumped queue to see Queen'

Bosses at ITV's This Morning have been forced to release a statement, following rumours circulating about two of their presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The broadcasters had to issue a strong statement denying that the TV stars "jumped the queue" to see the Queen lying in state in Westminster Hall, reports the Mirror.

As the rumours circulated online, people demanded for the pair to be sacked after footballing legend David Beckham spent 12 hours in the public queue to see the Queen. This Morning told the Mirror that they wanted to clear the air, in order to squash anymore unfounded abuse.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the television programme wrote: "Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something. We asked Phillip and Holly to be part of a film for this Tuesday’s programme.

“They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state – but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on the event.”

The TV hosts wore all black, with Holly donning a black face mask, to pay their respects for an episode of the show. In the absence of This Morning being on air on Friday, Holly and Phillip united to go and pay their respects using a separate entrance for journalists.

The pair made their way into the historic Westminster Hall to view the late Queen's coffin, which is on display for the public to see until early Monday morning before her state funeral.

60-year-old Phillip was spotted on the BBC News live stream, alongside Holly, 41, who was seen to be getting emotional. ITV News' Mary Nightingale was also spotted behind them.
