The Masked Singer is back on our screens and Joel Dommett has returned to host. Speaking on BBC’s The One Show, the 37-year-old presenter teased which celebrities are ‘behind the mask’ on the ITV guessing-game show.
He told viewers: "This is the best series yet. We have the best contestants. I'd say it's the most relevant we've ever had. It's sort of really relevant to people with a sprinkling of legend. It's really good.
“I'm not going to reveal too much but next week's episode on Saturday it's someone very famous,” he added. During the first episode, former footballer and pundit Chris Kamara was unveiled as Ghost.
Birmingham Mail reports how viewers were quick to praise Kamara for taking part despite his diagnosis of apraxia, which affects his speech. The TV presenter has spoken openly of the condition, heartbreakingly saying he had feelings of being “a fraud” as a broadcaster.
The format of The Masked Singer sees celebrities perform a song anonymously in elaborate masks or head-to-toe costumes. The panellists will then guess the identity based on clues the singers give about themselves. After their performances, the singers are voted by the audiences in each round while the panellists do not participate in the vote. The singer who receives the fewest votes in each round is unmasked and eliminated until the winner is declared.
