ITV's The Masked Dancer viewers convinced that Pillar & Post will be 'unmasked' as stars of rival BBC show Strictly Come Dancing

The Masked Dancer viewers have shared their theories on who they think Pillar and Post are in the series. The dancing duo, who are a first for the series, sent social media into a frenzy after their appearance on Saturday's show. After viewers watched them perform, some people are convinced that they will be 'unmasked' as dancers from rival BBC dancing show, Strictly Come Dancing.

"Ola and James are Pillar and Post," wrote one viewer on social media, theorising that Ola and James Jordan were behind the masks. These thoughts were echoed by a second person, who said: "Pillar and Post are purposefully holding back what they can do I feel as they are doing very complicated lifts. Maybe James and Ola Jordan or Janette and Alijaz," whilst they suggested that the pair could also be fellow Strictly dancers Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec.

A third agreed: "My mother has guessed James and Ola Jordan for Pillar&Post and think she might be right." James and Ola made headlines earlier this year when they discussed their weight gain. You can read more about that here.

During Saturday's first show, new judge Peter Crouch was equally confused by Pillar and Post. He said: "We’re not sure if it's a television couple, a radio couple, Ant and Dec. Is it an actual couple, like a real life couple, is it a father and son or father and daughter? When you see a couple on stage, so many things go through your head.”

The Masked Dancer has returned for its second series (ITV)

The Masked Singer 's sister show returned to ITV for its second series after a successful first run last year. A synopsis for the series reads: "Twelve brand new celebrities will be stepping onto the dancefloor to take on character alter egos as they trip the light fantastic in a bid to wow the panel and confuse with their moves. Clue packages will accompany every Masked Dancer to help the panel and at home detectives crack the case of who the famous faces behind the masks are.

"From ballet to ballroom, salsa to swing and everything in between, the mystery line-up will be dancing onto screens later this year on ITV and ITV Hub."

During the first episode of the new series, Astronaut was revealed to be Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe. None of the four judges were correct in their theories. The Masked Dancer airs on Saturdays on ITV at 6.30pm. For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
