ITV's Our House ending sees thriller wrap up with dark twist that divides viewers

*THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR OUR HOUSE'S FINAL EPISODE*

ITV viewers have been left in a state of shock and also massively divided by the ending of Our House, the new thriller which launched this week.

The drama, adapted by the award-winning crime novel from Louise Candlish, has aired over consecutive nights since Monday.

And, while millions of people have tuned in at 9pm every evening to watch each new episode, others, having been fully invested from the get-go, rushed to binge it all in one go on ITV Hub.

Our House begins when business woman and devoted mother Fi, played by Tuppence Middleton, walks up to her house to find strangers moving in.

Completely blindsided by what's going on , she tries frantically to get in touch with other half Bram but to no avail.

And that's because he has done a runner after selling the house from under her nose, having been blackmailed over his involvement in a car crash that killed a young girl.

His blackmailers, the same people who caused the crash, order Bram, a new role for Martin Compston, to betray his wife, who he's already cheated on, by pulling off a life-shattering act of deception.

Over the past few nights, ITV viewers have come to learn that the chief blackmailer Mike is the same man posing as Fi's heroic new love interest Toby.

The closing moments of episode 3 hit with the horrifying realisation that Toby was not the man he claimed to be, before the final episode saw her exact revenge with deadly consequences, by luring him to her and Bram's shared flat on the ruse that Bram would be there to see him, before poisoning him and calling on the help of Merle, the same friend who Bram cheated with.

How did Our House end?

*SPOILER ALERT* Unbeknown to both of them, Bram had managed to get his passport from the car of Wendy, the girl who first drew him into the blackmail nightmare after a one night stand, and escape the country, stopping the money from the house sale hitting Mike's bank account.

Away from danger, Bram made sure that the money went straight into Fi's bank account before doing, what he believed would be the ultimate favour, confessing all about the blackmail, claiming Fi knew nothing about it and that Mike had hoodwinked her as well by posing as Toby.

Tragically, Bram's confession also acted as a suicide note, with the closing minutes of Our House's finale seeing him walk into the sea to kill himself.

Unfortunately for all involved, Fi and Merle had tried to cover her back by saying she'd never met Mike in her life and that Bram must have killed him as revenge for the blackmail.

So, on hearing Bram's confession, the same police detective who had not long ruled her out of the inquiry into Mike's murder, was on her doorstep to play her Bram's voice note and lead her into a waiting police car as the colour drained from Fi's face and credits rolled.

Jaws have dropped across the country as viewers have struggled to take in the gripping and totally shocking last few scenes of Our House.

After watching it, one tweeted: "Had to binge watch #OurHouse brilliant drama can’t believe the ending," with a second reacting: "THE ENDING OF THE FINAL EPISODE OF OUR HOUSE WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL @martin_compston I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT"

However, other viewers weren't anywhere near as impressed, claiming it also left too many questions unanswered.

One critic took to Twitter to fume: "Do yourself a favour and avoid the disappointment of watching all 4 of these. After a slightly intriguing start it fizzled out. Massive plot holes and a damp squib ending."

Equally disappointed, another tweeted: "The ending to #OurHouse has annoyed me. You can’t just leave it on that type of ending"
