ITV's Love Island hit with hundreds of Ofcom complaints over 'toxic' bullying in villa

Love Island has been hit with 337 of Ofcom complaints after viewers were left unhappy about "toxic bullying" within the villa.

It's not the first time this season the ITV2 dating show has been reported to the regulator. Many fans of the popular reality television programme also blasted producers over the 'Movie Night' episode, which lead to intense scenes being aired, causing a huge rift amongst the islanders as some relationships hit rock bottom.

'Movie Night' involved getting all the couples sitting around a table with popcorn as they were shown clips from Casa Amor, with all their antics being finally unmasked.

Love Island received 266 complaints for its show on February 23 and a further 71 complaints for the episode on February 22. The majority of complaints were about Tanya’s behaviour towards Shaq and Olivia’s behaviour towards Kai, writes The Mirror.

Shaq was left in tears after Movie Night, after Tanya was exposed for kissing Martin.

Despite Shaq being visible upset, Tanya didn't apologise for what happened - resulting in some fans branding her "self-centred and immature". After watching the footage, Shaq fumed: "So it was just a peck, yeah, and he went to kiss you? So you're lying now?"

But Tanya refused to back down and said: "If you're looking for something to be angry about, this isn't it."

"I cant lie, I feel like she's a liar, I feel like she's full of s**t," Shaq later told the boys.

Elsewhere, Olivia was criticised for her treatment of Kai, when she pulled him for a chat and asked him why he didn’t name her as most untrustworthy during the challenge. "I was quite shocked you didn’t pick me," she said at the time.

Kai then explained to her: "I just want to squash the beef, that’s it," whilst Olivia said she felt it was a bit of a cop out: "I completely want to squash it, but you picking Claudia for me was a bit of a cop out."

"For me it confirms that maybe you are quite fake and for me I’d much rather you’d have just said, ‘Olivia and these are the reasons why I don’t think she’s genuine,'" she told him, with many fans taking issue with her comments.

Love Island returns to ITV2 and ITVX tonight at 9pm.
