ITV's Lorraine Kelly struck down by 'horrendous bug' minutes before show as Ranvir Singh steps in

A devastated Lorraine Kelly was sent home by ITV on Wednesday after falling ill minutes before she was due on air with her daily show.

Long-standing presenter Lorraine arrived at work all set to take to the air, as she usually does, at 9am and full of excitement to chat to guest Adam Lambert. However, things took a turn when she suddenly fell ill and Ranvir Singh, who has stepped into replace her on multiple occasions before, was hastily drafted in to do the honours.

Loraine shared her upset at having to go home on Twitter, telling her many followers: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT! Among the many people to wish Lorraine well was her ITV Editor, Victoria Kennedy, who told her: "Get well soon," while plenty of her famous friends also ch3excked up on her, with singer Aled Jones responding: "Get well soon lovely."

Lorraine's illness came as she was one of many stars to express concern for Channel 5 news anchor Dan Walker after his horrifying bike crash on Monday. The former BBC Breakfast host was 'out cold' for 20 minutes after colliding with a car while cycling to catch a train in Sheffield, startling his social media followers with pictures of his bloodied and bruised face as he declared he was 'lucky to be alive.'

After Dan spoke about how he3 firmly believed wearing a cycling helmet saving his life, Lorraine shared his post on her own Twitter timeline and wrote: "Hope you are ok Dan - very scary"
