Lorraine Kelly shocked viewers by revealing that she'd had an operation over the festive break, explaining that the surgery meant she had 'the most quiet Christmas.'
Lorraine was noticeably absent from screens in the run up to Christmas, with GMB anchor and ex Strictly star Ranvir Singh taking over hosting duties. And, while the Scottish legend was on TV in the period between Christmas and New Year, she wasn't actually in the studio in real time, as the highlights episodes were all pre-recorded before she signed off for the year.
With the bank holiday now officially over, Lorraine, like many other people across the country headed back to work for the first time for a few weeks on Tursday and, was joined in the opening moments of her first show back by regular guest Doctor Hilary Jones. And, sitting next to the GP in the studio, Lorraine gave an update on what had happened to her, telling him: "I had the most quiet one ever! I had a wee operation on my shoulder," before a shot of her with her arm in a sling flashed up on screen.

Lorraine continued: "There I am at Christmas! Thank you to Professor Levy and his team because, oh my goodness me, keyhole surgery is incredible. They just had to remove a bit of calcification and a bit of bone and yeah, I'm doing my physio and I'm all fine."
Giving an insight into how she and her family spent the festive season, following her operation, Lorraine added: "Yep, we had a really quiet Christmas and New Year, Rosie and Steve looked after me and Rosie obviously takes after me in the cooking department...not," before giving a look at a pudding Rosie had made from scratch for Christmas dinner.
