ITV's Lorraine Kelly issues warning over 'alarming' detail of Harry and Meghan car chase

Lorraine Kelly was left 'alarmed' by the fact it didn't look like Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle didn't look to be wearing seatbelts, before being involved in what their spokesperson claimed was a 'near catastrophic' car chase on Tuesday night.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with Meghan's mum Doria Ragland, had been at the Women of Vision awards in New York, before the alleged pursuit by paparazzi happened. A spokesperson for Prince Harry said: "Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms Ragland were involved in a near-catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers."

The car chase became a huge talking point on breakfast TV, with Lorraine being joined on her ITV morning show by former royal correspondent Jennie Bond, who just a night earlier had appeared on The Andrew Marr Show on LBC to declare that Harry should have just got out of the car and 'allowed' the paparazzi to get their shots and argued that he shouldn't have put his wife and mother in law in 'greater danger' by 'allowing' a chase to happen.

As she ended her own interview with Jennie, which concluded with the journalist saying she didn't think Prince William would be 'picking up the phone' to talk to brother Harry, Lorraine focused on something she spotted when looking at images of the Duke and Duchess in their car, saying: "In one of the photographs, it looked very much like they weren't wearing seatbelts.

"Please where seatbelts everybody, especially if you are being pursued by the paparazzi for god's sake. Because I do remember with Diana, some doctor said that if Diana had been wearing a seatbelt she may, we don't know, but she may well have survived."

She added: "It might have just been a moment where they didn't have them on, but...wear your seatbelts."
