Lorraine replied: "Thank you so much. It was the dreaded covid. It got me. I thought I'd escaped but it got me. But I'm fine. I'm absolutely fine and it's good to be back."
Ed asked: "Was it Wimbledon?" She replied: "No, do you know what, I don't actually know what it was. It could have been somebody standing in the queue behind me in the supermarket, you just don't know. This is the thing, you'll never be able to find out.
"But I'm fine, thank goodness, and I'm here. Thank God for science and the vaccine."
When finding out she had tested positive for the pandemic virus, Lorraine took to Twitter to update her fans. She wrote: "Well the covid has finally got me and I tested positive at the weekend. Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon." She added: "Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back."
