ITV's Lorraine Kelly fires back at critic who attacked viewers after awkward Boris Johnson moment

Lorraine Kelly has issued a furious response by an online critic who branded her viewers 'the unemployed and the feckless.,' after an awkward moment involving Boris Johnson.

ITV presenter Lorraine made the headlines on Tuesday through no doing of her own, due to something that happened at the end of the Prime Minister's rather fraught interview with Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain. After Susanna quizzed him on everything from his own honesty to how his Government intended to help those hit hard by the rising cost of living, Susanna ended the sit down chat by telling Johnson that Lorraine would be discussing the issues raised on her own show.

Looking completely perplexed, the PM asked: "Who's Lorraine?" to which Susanna quickly shot back: "Who's Lorraine?! Lorraine's a legend!" Still apparently none the wiser, Johnson could then be heard mumbling: "Fantastic, I didn't want to speak to Lorraine anyway," as Lorraine listened in from her own studio.

The clip was immediately seized on by those watching at home with it then widely shared and reacted to on social media. One of those quick to respond was the Daily Mirror's political editor Pippa Crear who took to Twitter to post: "Boris Johnson ends excellent

@susannareid100 interview by asking "who is Lorraine?" @reallorraine and there goes another 1.5 million votes.." In complete disagreement, one Twitter user challenged Pippa and aimed a scathing insult at Lorraine's viewers in the process, ranting: "The only people who watch Lorraine are the unemployed and the feckless.," and adding: "I think that, far from losing Boris votes, it will probably increase his stock value enormously.."

Lorraine's Twitter handle was included in the post and, after seeing what had been written, she shared the offensive tweet on her own timeline and shot back: "You can say what you like about me but don’t dare have a go at my fantastic viewers. This is beyond patronising.."

In response, one fan commented: "I worked from age16 to 70 and now retired watch Lorraine as I did when working shifts. I would watch it before going on duty and doing a 24 hour shift. Why do people think that if you watch daytime TV you don’t work for a living," with another replying: "worked from age16 to 70 and now retired watch Lorraine as I did when working shifts. I would watch it before going on duty and doing a 24 hour shift. Why do people think that if you watch daytime TV you don’t work for a living.".
