ITV's Lorraine interrupted by 'urgent weather warning' as show broadcasts from Emmerdale

Wednesday's Lorraine was interrupted by a 'violent weather warning' as the show switched location to the set of Emmerdale, ahead of the show's 50th birthday episode.

Those viewers who didn't tune into Tuesday's episode of Lorraine would have been surprised when they turned on their TV sets to see famous presenter Lorraine Kelly in Emmerdale's iconic pub, The Woolpack, as she fronted the whole show from the studios of the long-running soap, which aired its first episode back in 1972.

Emmerdale cast members like Nicola Wheeler and Chris Bisson were interviewed by the host as fans gear up to watch what looks set to be a very dramatic anniversary episode at the weekend. The bumper hour-long instalment on ITV on Sunday night, will see a storm hit the village and, as anyone who's watched Emmerdale over the years will now, weather and the soap don't mix well, with freak conditions claiming their fair share of villagers over the years. Who can forget the moment Tricia was killed after a chimney fell on her?!

Lorraine teased that the upcoming storm will "change life forever," with the drama added to when Mark Charnock, the much loved actor who plays Marlon Dingle, described it as "a game changer for so many characters."

Things went up a notch when Lorraine announced that she had to interrupt proceedings to cut to weather presenter Laura Tobin in the Good Morning Britain studio. Staying completely professional, Laura told viewers: "We have some breaking news now. We're getting some worrying reports about a violent and unpredictable storm heading its way to the village of Emmerdale in the Yorkshire Dales."

She added: "We're advising our viewers to avoid Home Farm and also David's shop and to take cover in the Woolpack until we have more information; we'll get that to you as we find it."

Hamming it up even more, Lorraine responded: "Thank you Laura, that sounds incredibly serious."
