Kate Garraway has admitted that her family have faced a difficult 'struggle' with husband Derek Draper, nearly three years after he was left fighting for his life due to Covid.
It was back in March 2020, just as the country was at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and being plunged into the first lockdown that Kate's other half and former political aide, Derek, was taken into hospital after being struck down by severe symptoms. As his condition took a concerning turn for the worse, Derek was put into a medically induced coma.
Kate and the couple's children, Billy and Darcy were unable to see Derek for months on end, due to the Covid restrictions, but thankfully he pulled through and was allowed to return home in spring 2021. Good Morning Britain presenter Kate has been very open and candid about Derek and the family still facing a tough road ahead with hus recovery and, speaking on Friday's instalment of the ITV breakfast show, she spoke about an issue which continues to blight them.

Kate was discussing a story about holiday maker Spencer Watts, who joined her in the studio and is calling for any apology from Ryanair, after receiving no help when trying to board a coach laid on by the airline after his flight was diverted.
.As a video played which saw the man struggling to get up the bus steps, Kate explained: "I've had a little bit of experience of this, because I have made a trip with my husband, who is currently severely disabled.
"I find that individuals are desperate to get things right, but the whole thing, somehow falls apart."
A video of the chat was shared on GMB's Twitter, with one viewer replying: "I support Spencer Watts in speaking out. It’s appalling that anyone should be put through this type of experience."
