ITV's Good Morning Britain: Richard Madeley comments switch viewers to BBC

Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to voice their frustration after the morning show aired on Tuesday, March 8.

The ITV news and talk show discussion about the crisis in Ukraine was the flashpoint for some viewers.

Presented by Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid, the show soon caused annoyance amongst some fans, according to Plymouth Live, which said viewers took to social media about the stance on the current UK response.

Madeley said: "I've just got a rhetorical question here. Thought I'd toss it out there and see what we get back.

"If we can build pop-up vaccination centres and car parks, if we can build pop-up Nightingale hospitals virtually overnight around the country, why can't we build a pop-up Visa processing centre in Calais?

"We had this question at the start of yesterday's show. We were virtually assured by various government spokesmen who came on the show that 'yes, it was all in hand' and it would all be sorted.

"It's not. We're still sending people away. What the hell is going on?"

Twitter users were quite vocal in their opposition both to the presenting team and the issues discussed.

One user said: "If Madeley or Rae are trying to present, it's BBC all the way for me. What with the new schedules in the evenings certainly getting my money's worth out of my TV Licence . Thankyou ITV."

A second said: "It's International Women's Day and you put Richard on, you can't produce a serious show."

Another said: "Here we go again. Maybe Richard Madeley can go to Calais with a pop up tent and take Susanna Reid with him."

And another fumed: "People like us ? Really Madeley? Are all humans not like “us” a very crass and careless comment...what about the Afghans running? They must be not like us it seems to Mr Madeley."
