ITV Prince Harry interview: Date and time bombshell special airs and how to watch it

Prince Harry is expected to cause a stir just weeks after his and wife Meghan's Netflix documentary as he will return to screens with an exclusive interview. The Duke of Sussex will appear alone as he sits down with ITV in a tell-all interview about his experience in the Royal Family.

Ahead of the release of his much-anticipated autobiography, Spare, on January 10, Harry has spoken with ITV News at Ten presenter Tom Bradby to air his views in a 90-minute interview. It is said that the decision to speak with Bradby is poignant as the journalist is 'a friend of' the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the first interviewer who Meghan opened up to about her mental health struggles, reports The Times.

In a first look trailer for the interview, the Duke of Sussex admitted “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back”. The series of clips cut together also heard Prince Harry say: “It never needed to be this way” and reference “the leaking and the planting” before stating “I want a family, not an institution”.

The in-depth interview with ITV will cover a range of subjects including his personal relationships, never-before-heard details surrounding the death of his mother Princess Diana and a look ahead at his future after quitting the royal family alongside his wife Meghan, reports The Mirror.

Here's everything viewers in the UK need to know about the special interview:

When will the interview air?

The 90-minute special, Harry: The Interview, will be broadcast on January 8 at 9pm .

An interview Prince Harry has given to US broadcaster Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes will also air on 8 January.

How can I watch the interview?

The exclusive ITV interview will be available to watch on ITV1 and stream from ITVX.

Michael Jermey, ITV Director of News and Current Affairs, said the interview will be something 'everyone should want to watch' as Harry prepares to reveal all about his family.

"It is extremely rare for a member of the royal family to speak so openly about their experience at the heart of the institution.

"Tom Bradby’s interview with Prince Harry will be a programme that everyone with an informed opinion on the monarchy should want to watch," teased Jermey.

Harry’s book Spare was first announced last year, with an official synopsis for the ‘unflinching’ memoir reading: "It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow – and horror.

"As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling – and how their lives would play out from that point on.

"For Harry, this is that story at last.

"With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief."
