ITV presenter Seema Jaswal apologised to Everton star Andros Townsend while on the air.
The Blues forward is currently working as a pundit in Qatar for the tournament. He has been sidelined with a serious knee injury since March, with no clear timeframe set yet on his return to action.
While Everton are not playing, Townsend is over in the Middle East to work as a pundit for the World Cup. His latest stint saw him commentating on the group stage match between Poland and Saudi Arabia.

In the build-up to ITV’s coverage of the game, Jaswal introduced the Everton forward. However, the 31-year-old did not appear too amused with her choice of words about his international career for England, after asking for his opinion on the Three Lions’ draw with the United States of America.
Jaswal said: “Well ex-England international Andros Townsend is on commentary for us today and I'm delighted to say that we can get Andros' opinion on the game last night. Hello Andros.”
At first, Townsend did not appear to be too bothered by the remark about his international career, and simply replied by saying: “Hi Seema.”
Jaswal then continued: “Lovely to see you, so what did you think last night of England's performance?”
It was here that Townsend appeared to take issue with Jaswal’s previous comment, and said: “Well firstly you really didn't need to emphasise the ex-England part but thanks for that.”
Jaswal, who was caught by surprise at the remark by the Everton forward, replied by saying: “Sorry Andros,” to which Townsend accepted the apology and said “it's okay”.
Townsend has 13 caps for England over the course of his career, but has not represented his country since November 2016. His last appearance for the Three Lions came in a 2-2 friendly draw with Spain, where he played just 25 minutes.
