Viewers were on the edge of their seats as the premiere of the new ITV drama gripping viewers as Malpractice aired on Sunday, April 23. And lots were saying the same thing. Malpractice follows doctor Lucinda Edwards who, after the death of patient, Edith Owusu from an opioid overdose following a "nightmare shift", becomes the centre of an investigation into her alleged negligence.
"As the pressure of the investigation intensifies," a synopsis reads, "Lucinda's relationship with husband Tom (Lorne MacFadyen) starts to fracture, and her confident professional exterior begins to crack. Is Lucinda hiding something?"
And after the first episode, which takes a deep dive into the working lives of these NHS workers, viewers have been left in awe of this programme with many claiming they are 'hooked'.

Taking to Twitter, user @RachelParkinso2 wrote: "Going to be a struggle not to give into the temptation to squeeze the whole of #Malpractice on @ITVX into my working week!!"
@KerriOlorcain added: "Half way though ep 2 of #Malpractice & the twists & turns , im hooked I have to binge watch the rest tommrow. The writing is fooking brillant, niamh algar is [great]"
@iamtammyheath also said: "#Malpractice was just wow really want to binge watch this but I’m going to watch weekly because I need it to last as long as possible love love love it well done to the cast and casting."
And while people are absolutely loving this new series, viewers are divided by the 'unlikeable' main character, Lucinda.
@tracydavidson27 wrote: "#Malpractice Ho hum. Not really caring much what happens to Lucinda. Are we supposed to be rooting for her?" alongside @drjtreml who said: "Lucinda is H #Malpractice"
A third, @Cetr40Taylor, added: "#Malpractice Not one likeable character".
All episodes of Malpractice are available to stream on ITVX but if you wish to watch weekly, it will air Sundays at 9pm on ITV1.
