ITV has confirmed that filming has begun on the second series of the Vicky McClure drama Trigger Point. The first series aired last year and was met with widespread acclaim.
Trigger Point, which is made by Jed Mercurio’s (Line of Duty, Bloodlands) production company, focuses on the Expo officers in the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad, who risk their lives daily in the face of danger. The show was so well received that it became the best-performing drama of 2022, averaging 9.5m viewers per episode.
The new series will be made up of six episodes. Alongside Vicky McClure, who stars as Lana 'Wash' Washington, the second season features several returning cast members Nabil Elouahabi as Hass, Eric Shango as Danny, Mark Stanley as DI Thom Youngblood, Kerry Godliman as Sonya Reeves, Kris Hitchen as John and Kevin Eldon as Jeff.

There are also several new cast members joining the series. These include Natalie Simpson who plays DS Helen Morgan, Julian Ovenden who plays Commander John Francis and Tomiwa Edun as Alex.
Vicky McClure said as filming commenced: "After such a great response to the first series of Trigger Point, we are so pleased to be back! The scripts are filled to the brim with twists, turns, those explosive moments and along with our returning cast and brilliant new cast members it’s set to be an exciting shoot!"
Nabil Elouahabi, who plays Hass, said: "So happy to be back with the team, looking forward to sharing some more of Hass with the audience - here we go!" And Danny actor Eric Shango added: "Happy to be back with the team again! Viewers need to strap in for a bumpy ride."
Executive Producer Mark Redhead said: "Trigger Point is a television drama like no other. Centred on a great bunch of characters led by the magnetic Vicky McClure as the single-minded Expo Lana, it combines explosive action with a compelling thriller plot. It’s very exciting to be working with such a great team to create a gripping new series."
