ITV Love Island viewers share first impressions of 'bombshell' Charlie Radnedge

Love Island viewers have been introduced to the latest 'bombshell' contestant to join the villa. Charlie Radnedge made his full entrance at the start of Thursday's episode (June 23) of the ITV dating programme.

His arrival comes just 24 hours after Antigoni Buxton shook up the show's dynamics on debut. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter enjoyed speed dates with Davide, Dami and Jay.

Offering their first impressions of Charlie on Twitter, viewer @1taraxias said: "Charlie is a recycled version of Charlie 2019."

@MUDDYW4T3R posted: "I just cannot get over how much charlie looks like Calvin Harris." While @efcnelson03 added: "Maybe it's just me put [sic] Charlie sounds like he's making his voice sound deeper than it actually is."

@BemaAsare_ said: "Since someone said Charlie looks like he’s part of the Royal Family I can’t unsee it".

Who is Charlie Radnedge?

Charlie Radnedge is a 28-year-old from London who works in real estate development. Speaking ahead of his arrival on Love Island, he said he could not miss the "once in a lifetime opportunity" to join the cast.

Having been single for the past three years, Charlie said he has not had much success recently when it comes to relationships, so now is the time to 'try something new'. He said he already has his eyes on Ekin-Su, Paige and Tasha, although he is 'keeping an open mind' until he meets them.

Describing himself as "slightly more mature" than some of the other boys in the villa, the property professional said he is ready to settle down. "I'd say I'm quite straight-forward and straight-talking", he said. "I'm also quite a relaxed person as well".

His family and friends would describe him as "chilled", "loyal" and "friendly", he said, although he can be "outgoing and loud" at times. Naturally "more of an introvert", Charlie said he spends a lot of time on his own but also enjoys being sociable with friends.

He said he falls in love quickly but is also good at setting boundaries until he is "confident" about the direction of a relationship. His biggest turn-off is meeting someone 'boring' who is averse to conversation.

Asked how competitive he will be in the villa, Charlie said: "Everyone's there for the same reason. Even people who have good intentions and are good people would need to step on people's toes to find what they're looking for".

He added: "I don't really have tricks up my sleeve, I just hope someone gets along with me. What you see is what you get".

Love Island airs daily at 9pm on ITV2 and the ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
