The friends and families of the remaining Love Island contestants have come together to issue a joint statement after their loved ones have spent weeks in the Spanish villa. While the contestants head to Majorca in the hope of finding love, those back home show their support while watching their loved ones' followers skyrocket.
But they have found themselves speaking out after seeing awful messages being sent about the islanders still in the ITV2 dating show. One of the accounts to show the joint message was Paige Thorne's. The Welsh paramedic has continued her journey in the villa after her love interest Jacques O'Neill quit the villa.
She has since been getting to know Adam Collard who returned to the show earlier this month as a bombshell contestant after previously attempting to find love on the dating show back in 2018. And in Sunday night's trip to the villa, viewers saw the newly coupled-up pair share their first kiss.
The joint statement, which is from the 'admins' of the Love Island stars' social media accounts, reads: "Love Island is an interactive TV show where opinions, discussions and debate are welcome in equal measure to displays of support, love and kindness.
"Although we have never met, we stand together today united against the hate messages and insults that some viewers seem to think is acceptable to throw at our friends, sons, daughters, and family members. Your hate has no place on our pages or in society in general."
The joint message ends: "This post is being shared across contestants' social media pages at the same time and Love Island fan related pages as a sign of unity and denouncement of hate." On Paige's Instagram account, the caption simply read: "#BeKind". This was also replicated on Tasha Ghouri's account which was open to comments.
And fans were quick to show their support. @mary_liz62 wrote: "Name and shame all the vile trolls. Social media can be so unkind. Sending love to all you young ladies." @fancynancy258 said: "Too many miserable people out there theses days, ignore them and enjoy your life, their opinion of you is none of your business."
@dot__young shared: "Well said needs to stop the haters." @keith.noble.5243 echoed: "Well said no need for haters if they can't say anything good keep quiet."
The admins of Paige's account also shared a further message following the scenes showing Paige kissing Adam. Writing on her Instagram Story, it said: "Final note on this. #BeKind. Just a note to say that you can simultaneously feels sorry for Jacques for being in a bad place with his mental health, but also understand that what he did to Paige wasn't right and she deserves the chance to move on and find happiness."
