Love Island's Paige Thorne has spoken out about her friendship with Dami Hope and addressed the opinions of her fellow islanders since leaving the villa in a new interview. The 24-year-old has been dubbed "not kind or nice" in social media posts two weeks after the ITV2 dating show came to an end.
Paige had a rocky experience in the Mallorcan villa after coupling up with former rugby player Jacques O'Neill, who also happened to be the ex of fellow islander Gemma Owen. The pair seemed to be moving on the right path until the dreaded Casa Amor returned and separated the boys and girls into two villas.
During their time apart, Jacques, 23, decided to 'test' his relationship with the Welsh paramedic and get to know new girl Cheyanne Kerr, with the pair sharing numerous kisses and sharing a bed. In a dramatic recoupling, the pair decided to come back to each other but it wasn't smooth sailing as Paige discovered what Jacques had been up to.
And their relationship never recovered as in emotional scenes, Jacques quit the villa to 'get back to himself' after struggling with the fallout from the show's annual twist. Paige went on to strike up a relationship with bombshell Adam Collard, who made Love Island history by being the first islander to make a surprise return to the villa.
The pair left the villa together just before the final after making their relationship 'exclusive'. They have since revealed they are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend after sealing the deal during their first week of freedom. But Paige has been forced to address another relationship she had in the villa.
Paige was seen to be close with Dami Hope during their time in Spain and have since met up for Tasha Ghouri's birthday celebrations last week. Appearing on former Love Island star Toby Aromolaran’s podcast Fancy A Chat? Toby directly posed the question to Paige of: "How would you describe your relationship with Dami?"
Paige then replied: "Right ok, me and Dami, let’s just put this to bed because I am sick of getting dragged for ‘being after Indiyah’s guy’. I am not, please stop. Girls and guys can be mates without anything in it."
She was also asked about comments made by other islanders from the 2022 series about their relationship with her. Bombshell Nathalia Campos revealed secret tensions in the villa between herself and Paige which came after Casa Amor bombshell Coco Lodge opened up about her difficult relationship with Paige and described her behaviour as “not kind or nice” in a TikTok post.
Danica Taylor has also said she wishes she had confronted the likes of Paige over the way she felt she was treated upon arrival in the villa, having watched the scenes back. Toby asked Paige about her feelings towards the "post-Love Island climate of people talking about everyone else" and Paige replied: “People have got to do what they've got to do."
She continued: “If you've got to talk s*** about someone else to keep yourself relevant, that's fine. It's not my vibe. “Why can't you focus on yourself and all the positive things, rather than talk s*** about anyone else? I'm not about that. I'm in my little positive bubble and I stay firmly inside it.
"People just want to try to pop it sometimes but it's impenetrable, so no." Toby replied: "A lot of people are going to try to drag you down," to which Paige laughed as she said back: "They try."
