ITV Love Island's Luca Bish's family apologises on his behalf over villa behaviour after revealing death threats

The family of Love Island star Luca Bish have apologised on his behalf following his recent behaviour in the villa. The fishmonger has been trying to find love on the ITV2 dating show since arriving in Spain early last month. And he appeared to have found it as he said those famous three words to Gemma Owen in scenes aired last week.

However, their blossoming romance appears to have hit the rocks thanks to the return of Movie Night. The segment allows the islanders to see clips of antics which have happened when the couples have been tempted by newcomers. "I can’t be with someone like that," Luca hit out after watching clips of partner Gemma, 19, flirting with another boy.

During Friday's episode (July 15), Luca watched a clip of Gemma insinuating her head could be turned by another boy and flirting with new boy Billy Brown in the kitchen. Then during Sunday night's episode (July 17) saw her feature in a separate “flirty” conversation with Billy in the clip titled Good Bill Hunting.

After watching the clip, Luca said: “I’m telling you now, I don’t even want to speak to her. "I’m f***ing fuming. I am not going f***ing near that bird mate. Bring me a f***ing bird in, watch me then flirt. Trust me when I say, if she wants to play it down to me I will f***ing explode. I can’t be with someone like that, sorry."

Pointing to his snake tattoo, Luca added: "See this tattoo on my chest, that’s what she is." Viewers then saw Gemma in the beach hut, where she said: "I don't really know where he is coming from. I think everything that I did was fine, I stand by, I don’t think it was that deep at all and everyone just needs to get on with it."

After sharing a frosty silence in the corridor after movie night, Luca told Gemma “I’m not happy” and “you were entertaining it” which Gemma vehemently denied. Luca called Billy over to the fire pit to join them and asked: “Did you feel like she was flirting with you?” with Billy replying: "Yeah, it was just flirty banter."

Gemma said: "Did we have a flirty chat? Yes." Luca replied: “But just a minute ago you said you didn’t have a flirty chat, you literally said I wasn’t flirting."

But as well as his reaction to the clips of Gemma, Luca also came under fire for his treatment of Tasha Ghouri. He was heard saying 'Tasha who?' in clip from Casa Amor and while giggling with the boys, he repeated the comment with a smile on his face. He also got annoyed on Andrew Le Page's behalf as he appeared unphased by the clips of his now-girlfriend kissing Billy.

Early this evening, Luca's family took to social media to share an apology in a statement, saying they "don’t condone" his behaviour. The message on the account, which is being run by the 23-year-old's sister, read: "I want to apologise on behalf of Luca for his insensitive reaction on last night's episode. I know that when he watches it back, he will be embarrassed and deeply apologetic.

"We as his family don't condone his behaviour last might, but we do understand he is in an intense environment where his actions are heightened. Last night was not reflective of the boy we all know and love at home. Please be aware death threats and nasty comments totally overstep the mark and something we has a family should not have to ensure, for this reason we have turned off the comments and messages."

The note then ended: "For all those who have sent messages checking in on us, we would like to thank you very much and we see you." It comes after Luca's sister Claudia said the abuse she had seen her brother had received had caused her to be 'sick' from crying so much.

Following Sunday night's episode, many viewers took to Twitter to slam Luca's accusations, with many taking Gemma's side. But Luca's sister Claudia revealed that fans of the show took things a step to far, after admitting she had been 'sick from crying' after receiving so many death threats to his account during the episode.

The abuse came just moments after the Love Island contestants' families and friends issued a joint statement in a pledge to 'stand together against the hate'. "Please please please stop messaging abuse. Luca can't even see it..." Claudia wrote. The people that love him the most can," she wrote. I've just been sick from crying so much at the death threats (an hour on from the last story). How can people be so inhumane."
