ITV Love Island's Jacques says he hasn't spoken to Paige since show ended as he takes aim at ex's relationship with new man Adam

Love Island star Jacques O'Neill has spoken out about his ex Paige Thorne's relationship with new man Adam Collard after the ITV2 dating show ended. Following talk that former rugby player Jacques skipped Sunday night's reunion show filmed on Thursday, he gave his opinion on Paige and Adam's romance in a candid fan Q&A chat with his fellow Islander Luca Bish in an Instagram live broadcast.

Jacques, 23, quit the TV villa in Mallorca last month after clashing with new arrival Adam over his flirting with Paige. Jacques, who had just been through a rocky time with paramedic Paige, 24, after he kissed bombshell arrival Cheyanne Kerr during the Casa Amor relationship test, was rattled by the arrival of hunky Adam, 26, who immediately made his interest in Paige clear.

He told The Sun after his departure: “I thought if I don’t get myself out things could go horribly wrong and I could get physical. "At home you can remove yourself from situations, but in there you had to deal with every situation, and in that moment I took my microphone off, and walked straight through the front doors because I just wanted to get out of that place."

Jacques previously said he 'couldn’t cope' on the show, which pairs-up singles in the sunshine with the winning couple scooping £50,000, and said doing Love Island was the "worst decision of my life.” He recalled: “I was ready to break down. I was feeling so mentally drained, I just wanted to go home and get myself right."

Jacques has now taken aim as he referred to the awkward Meet the Parents episode when Paige asked her mum what she thought of Adam. After a long pause her mum said: "I'm not buying it."

She told her daughter: "The way you were with Jacques you were a lot more you and bouncy and full of life and personality. With Adam it just seems a lot different."

And Paige told her: "He did bring out a different side of me, bubbly and laughing. But there were some bits that were really not okay. With Adam he's so much more chilled out and down to earth."

Asked what he thinks of Paige and Adam, Jacques said: "They seem like they get on really, really well." But he added sarcastically: "Her mum seems really fond of Adam so yeah. I'm sure the Sunday dinner will go really well."

And asked if he had spoken to his ex since the show ended last Monday he replied: "No I haven't. That was short and sweet wasn't it. No I haven't simple as that."

Jacques and Luca were delighted when they clocked that former Coronation Street Ryan Thomas was watching the broadcast and sent the message 'Love You Boys.' "Go for a Sunday carvery or something," Jacques jokingly told him.

Recently speaking out on This Morning Jacques said he was 'scared of life and what was to come next for me' after leaving Love Island and told how he and his mum received death threats. 'When I was in that holding villa after I left I just wanted my mum. All I wanted to do is just be with my mum," he said.

He said about his return to the UK: "I was getting so much hate and me and my mum were getting. We were getting death threats. I was like 'mum we just need to stay in. I'm going to stay indoors and I'm going to delete social media'."

And speaking to Love Island host Laura Whitmore on the spin-off show Aftersun he said he had told Paige 'to crack on' after he left. "I said crack on just like I did in Casa. She needs to explore like I did," he explained.

"I said 'you do what you need to do' and she's doing that so good on her." But he added about their relationship: "We had a good connection and we really got on and I did see things working on the outside between us."
