ITV Love Island fans share same reaction as they're distracted by Joel Corry during VIP party

Love Island is known for its celebrity appearances and the islanders went wild earlier this month when singer Becky Hill made an appearance. The Brit Award-winning star took to the stage with backing dancers for a high-energy performance by the pool during what was an intense time in the Mallorcan villa.

While her performance monetarily papered up cracks among the couples following the Casa Amor recoupling process, the arrival of 2018 Islander Adam Collard as a new bombshell and the departure of Jacques O'Neill leaving both his partner Paige Thorne and best friend Luca Bish in tears.

And during Tuesday night's trip to the villas (July 19), the Love Island contestants face the tough decision of choosing which two of their fellow islanders will be dumped from the show. Boys Billy Brown and Dami Hope and girls Danica Taylor and Summer Botwe are at risk after receiving the least public votes.

Host Laura Whitmore revealed the dilemma during the ITV2 dating programme, crashing a surprise VIP party for the contestants at Vibe Club, she told them: “Hello islanders, how are you all doing? Having a good time? I am not here to join in on the fun sadly and I am afraid the party is over, could you all please line up by the pool."

The Irish TV star told them the public had been voting for their favourite boy and girl, and the two boys and girls with the fewest votes risked being dumped from the island. After gasps from the contestants, she added: "I can tell you that one boy and one girl will not be returning to the villa tonight – and that decision is in the hands of your fellow islanders," before she revealed the bottom four.

The drama came after DJ Joel Corry performed at the club away from the Love Island villa. His set was brief, with viewers seeing the islanders sing and dance along to his hit track Head & Heart. But viewers couldn't help but be distracted by Joel's past.

@Nagginsnnotions tweeted: "I’ll never not see Joel Corry as Sophie Kasaeis fella on Geordie Shore #LoveIsland." @HazFlo8 said: "Omg it’s Joel, Sophie’s boyfriend from Geordie Shore!! #loveisland." @zoseph_ echoed: "Am sorry no matter how famous Joel Corry is he will always be Sophie from Geordie Shore’s bf #LoveIsland."

Others, however, weren't quite sure who it was they were seeing and listening to. @emodashian asked: "Am I supposed to know who Joel Corry is? #loveisland." @YaaBoahema said: "Who’s Joel Corey please. I just had to Instagram him #loveisland." @coll1986 shared: "I must be old, cuz i have no idea who joel corry is #LoveIsland."

Joel featured on MTV reality television series Geordie Shore, alongside then-girlfriend Sophie Kasaei until 2013. In April 2019, he released the single "Sorry", which broke the record for the most Shazamed track in one day, with 41,000 Shazams. The song was featured on Love Island and peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart.

His later single Head & Heart, which features MNEK on vocals, spent six weeks at number one in the UK Singles Chart and also became Joel's first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100.
