ITV Love Island fans praise Laura Whitmore over outfit detail after show's big change

Love Island finally returned to screens on Monday night (June 6) for another summer of love but it was host Laura Whitmore who was heaping the praise. The presenter made her first appearance of the 2022 series during the launch show as she headed to the new villa for the first coupling up.

This year there was a major twist as the decision-making was taken out of the Islanders hands. Instead, the public voted for which of the girls - Paige, Indiyah, Tasha, Amber and Gemma - should be coupled up with which boy - out of Dami, Liam, Ikenna, Andrew and Luca - for the first time ever.

And the twists didn't end there as the first Love Island bombshell was already thrown into the mix in the form of David Sanclimenti. The new boy made his entrance just as sun began to set on the first day in the Love Island villa.

But back to Laura - and the TV presenter was spotted heading into the new version of the now-famous villa in Mallorca as she gets ready to meet this year's contestants while wearing an all-red outfit. And mega fans of the ITV dating show may remember Laura originally wore the red waistcoat-style outfit back in 2020, when she presented the Winter Love Island final.

Originally a top and trouser combo with additional long-sleeved blazer, the 37-year-old has upcycled the outfit, ditching the sleeves for the high-neck waistcoat, which forms a heart on her chest, and cut the legs off the trousers to make a cute pair of shorts.

Sharing a close-up of her style for episode one on Instagram, Laura said: "Details. We’ve done something a bit special with an old favourite! #relove." The mum-of-one also shared a TikTok video of her dancing around the villa two years ago in the first version of the outfit before busting some moves in the new version at the villa's new heart-shaped entrance.

And it has impressed fans. Lily Williams said: "Loved this the first time you wore it and love it now." Andrea Kristina commented: "Yaaaas to the upcycle! Looking gorgeous girl!" Lesley Copeland replied: "I said this was reworked! Looked amazing!"

@dais_ej tweeted: "Love that Laura Whitmore has upcycled a previous outfit #loveisland." @darrenbtw wrote: "Appreciation tweet for laura whitmore for wearing the 2021 final outfit again to promote re-usability and sustainability #LoveIsland." @BethanyGHills added: "Looks like Laura has recycled a previous outfit and it’s great to see!! Loved it as a suit 2 years ago and love it even more as shorts & a waistcoat #LoveIsland."

It comes after Love Island has made a major change to the clothes the Islanders wear. For the first time ITV has teamed up with eBay and instead of being treated to a whole new wardrobe before they enter the famous Spanish villa, they contestants will be filmed donning pre-loved clothes with a shared wardrobe also situated in the new villa.
