ITV Love Island fans issue Gemma Owen demand over cost of necklace

The winning couple of Love Island 2022 will be crowned tonight.

But fans of the ITV2 dating show have called for Gemma Owen to be 'banned' from taking the victory. The 19-year-old has been coupled up with fishmonger Luca Bish for the majority of her stint in the villa.

The young entrepreneur comes from a wealthy family as her dad is footballing legend Michael Owen. She is often seen wearing a necklace which is said to be worth a whopping £25,000 - half of the prize fund. Because of this, fans are saying that she shouldn't win the show as she doesn't need the cash.

Fans have flooded Twitter with their thoughts on the matter. One user said: "One thing the LI producers need to stop doing is putting people with money on the show. Millie and Liam who won last year both were very well off and now potentially Luca and Gemma could win when this babe's necklace is the same price as the prize money??? #damiyah #LoveIsland"

Another user said: "Gemma’s necklace is worth more than the prize money, she doesn’t need to win #LoveIsland." Kirsty said: "Sorry but Gemma especially doesn’t deserve to win considering her necklace is literally worth half the prize fund #LoveIsland."

Anthony said: "#Luca & #Gemma for obvious reasons should not win #LoveIsland. A multi millionaire's daughter who wears her own bikini range in the villa & who struts around in a 20 grand necklace. Bit of a slap in the face giving her 50k when a lot are using gyms to shower in. #LoveIslandUK"

Tonight, presenter Laura Whitmore will be there to deliver the news of the winner, and also hand each winner an envelope with a cash amount in it. Together, they will then proceed to open their letters and reveal whether or not they contain £50,000 or £0.

The winner with the £50,000 envelope will then decide whether they want to split the cash prize or keep it for themselves. So far, every past winner has decided to split the cash but depending on who wins this year, that may change.
