ITV Lorraine viewers were left unimpressed after Ranvir Singh interviewed Line of Duty star Daniel Mays.
On Tuesday's instalment of the ITV breakfast show, Ranvir filled in for usual host Lorraine Kelly as she is off on a break. However, viewers were not impressed with the broadcaster's interviewing technique when it came to English actor Daniel.
Ranvir, who is the political editor for Good Morning Britain, quizzed the actor about the return of his popular cop comedy show Code 404. Speaking on the show, Daniel compared his co-star Stephen Graham to Blind Date legend Cilla Black.
The actor told the tale of how Liverpool-born Stephen set him up with his now wife, Louise Burton. He explained they have a great relationship together and not just on screen.
Daniel, 44, said: "It's great to work with people you love and get on with." Ranvir added: "Well Stephen Graham has a more integral part in your life doesn't he than just being a co-star?"
Daniel replied: "He's my Cilla Black. He was matchmaker to me and my wife. She was a make up artist and we were working on a show years ago and I couldn't ask her out because I was too scared. Then Stephen stepped in and said, you know, sort of put us together."
Speaking of working with Stephen while filming Line of Duty, Daniel said: "We have such a ball filming it for six weeks and we don't stop giggling with one another."
However, viewers at home were left feeling frustrated after the interview aired. One penned: "Jesus if I was being interviewed by her I'd feel exhausted #lorraine "
Someone else tweeted: "It would hav3 been nice if Ranvir let Daniel Mays talk without cutting him off and shouting over him #Lorraine," as another viewer replied: "I’m glad it wasn’t just me, she was so rude and made it all about her."
A fourth wrote: "@lorraine Why is Ranvir shouting and interrupting Daniel Mays? Isn’t it about him and not her ? #Lorraine #GMB " Another said: "I much prefer Christine Lampard covering for #lorraine she's very professional & has lovely personality."
Another annoyed viewer wrote: "Please find someone other than Ranvir Singh to cover for #Lorraine there is no point having guests on the show as she constantly interrupts them never letting them answer a question or speak. Going to have to switch off."
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
