ITV Loose Women share emotional moment Brenda Edwards sings at vigil for son Jamal

Loose Women returned to our screens today following an emotional show dedicated to Jamal Edwards.

On Monday, the panel paid tearful respects to the 31-year-old entrepreneur and music trailblazer, who died suddenly over the weekend.

Jamal, who founded SBTV as a teenager, is the son of Loose Women star and singer Brenda Edwards.

Prior to the show Brenda shared her pain in a heartbreaking statement but Charlene White spoke of Brenda’s sadness at the way the death of her son was made public on social media.

The ITV News presenter told viewers Brenda, a singer and presenter, felt the announcement had been “taken away from her” by people posting about the news online.

The programme also paid tribute to Jamal by playing songs by artists he helped give a step-up on SBTV - such as Ed Sheeran and Jessie J, as well as sharing clips of Jamal from the time he appeared on the programme back in November alongside his mum.

Charlene returned to the ITV lunchtime show's panel on Tuesday alongside Linda Robson, Janet Street-Porter, and Kéllé Bryan.

She started the programme by saying they had been "overwhelmed" by the sheer number of "beautiful and heartfelt" messages that have been sent in by viewers since yesterday's show.

Charlene went on to share how hundreds of people gathered on Monday night for a vigil in front of a mural of Jamal in his hometown of Acton in West London.

"Brenda was there too," she added as a clip of Brenda amongst the crow was shown on-screen.

The musical theatre star was seen with a megaphone in hand as she sang Whitney Houston's 'Greatest Love of All'.

It is the same song that was played at the end of Monday's Loose Women, sung by Brenda during a previous performance on the show.

Returning to the panel, Charlene said she and Kelle had spoken to Brenda this morning and said the singing has "taken it out of her" as she spoke with a raspy voice.

"She's doing alright," she said before adding: "She's really grateful for what we did yesterday."

Linda then said she popped over to see Brenda to give her some flowers after revealing on the programme that Jamal helped her son a number of years ago with launching his own music career.

Janet also added that Brenda knows they "love her so much" and that they'll support her in "whatever way" we can.

"We're not work colleagues, we're friends," Linda added before Kelle praising her co-stars for their tribute show.
