Kaye Adams appeared to acknowledge talk that the Loose Women stars were 'fuming' with This Morning beating them to an award at the National Television Awards 2022. On Thursday night (October 13) the stars of the small screen hit the red carpet for the annual ceremony followings its postponement last month.
This Morning picked up the gong for Daytime for the fifth consecutive year seeing off competition from Loose Women, The Chase and The Repair Shop to take home the award.
It comes soon after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield faced criticism over the past couple of weeks following claims they skipped the queue for the Queen’s lying in state. And as the popular programme was announced as the winner by Strictly Come Dancing pair Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin, Phillip was seen putting his head in his hands and appeared to hold back tears.
Holly, meanwhile, looked equally as surprised and thrilled as she immediately hug her co-star and off-screen 'bestie' before rushing over to give co-star Alison Hammond a hug. However, viewers spotted that while the majority of the Loose Women did clap, albeit seemingly unhappily, Linda Robson and Judi Love did not join them.
Among the social media posts was @PrincessPKaur who commented: "The loose women were not happy!! Fuming! #ntas #ntawards." While @Woodox76 shared: "Loose women aren’t impressed are they? #NTAs."
But Kaye has since insisted the panelists were cheering on their ITV co-stars. During the usual crossover between This Morning and Loose Women, where they tease what is to come on the lunthtime show, Kaye congratulated hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on the win.
"Congratulations by the way, we were cheering for you," she said, before promising viewers a behind-the-scenes special in the midday show. But viewers were quick to hit back. @Dayjur11 said: "No you weren't Kaye, you had a look that would turn fresh milk sour when #ThisMorning was announced as the winner."
@bramwell_ashley posted: ''Congratulations btw we were cheering for ya” your faces told a different story kaye #LooseWomen #ThisMorning." @SmalesRachel replied: "If look's could kill. I think they were in with a stronger chance than usual following #queuegate."
Meanwhile, Dame Kelly Holmes was happy to admit to her disappointment. In reference to her illustrious sporting career, Kaye turned to Kelly during Friday's Loose Women: "’ll tell you what Kelly as a born winner I was watching your face when we didn’t win because I thought what’s Dame Kelly Holmes gonna do when we lose.’
Dame Kelly replied: "I’m not very good at hiding when I’m disappointed," before reenacting recoiling in horror. She added: "I had to swear a little bit and then come back up. I mean nothing I have nothing against This Morning at all but we were like really revved up, we’d had so much energy."
