ITV I'm A Celebrity viewers complain over Ant and Dec's 'joke' of an announcement moments before end of episode

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here viewers were quick to complain as Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly made their first appearance in camp. The second episode of the ITV reality show's 2022 series aired on Monday night (November 7) and saw the ten celebrities getting used to their new surroundings.

While Charlene White, Owen Warner, Mike Tindall, Babatunde Aleshe, Sue Cleaver, and Jill Scott spent their first evening in what will be at home for up to the next three weeks, Olvia Attwood, Chris Moyles, Boy George and Scarlette Douglas were seen having to rough it on an island before taking part in the first trial.

During the first evening, viewers saw the stars tuck into their meal, compromised of kangaroo rump. Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Mike said: “The kangaroo rump, or kangaroo bum - ultimately it is his bum - tasted very good," and Owen also seemed impressed, wanting to order the meat the next time he heads to a fancy restaurant.

The following day, viewers got to see the first lot of action which was filmed before Olivia had to leave. ITV said the 31-year-old former reality show contestant has been told by the programme's medical team it is not safe for her to return to camp, meaning she is the first contestant to leave the show this year.

However, viewers still saw Olivia taking part in the first Bushtucker challenge which saw her inserting her hand into small wall openings alongside Scarlette filled with worms in a bid to unscrew pipe fittings and stop the flow of water into chambers holding Boy George and Chris. They were placed into the "torpedo tubes" and made to collect stars dropped into the containers.

And the quartet did more than ok as they headed over to the main camp for the first time with eight out of a possible 10 stars. But there was tension brewing as Boy George said he 'felt sick' after tucking into the meal of mud crabs, mushrooms and rice.

Culture Club singer Boy George, who is vegetarian, asked Charlene for some mushrooms and rice and admitted in the Bush Telegraph: "The food was horrible. Eugh. The mushrooms weren’t cooked enough. I almost stepped in at one point and said, ‘do you want me to carry on frying it for you?’ But then I thought I don’t want to step on Charlene’s toes."

Later on, Ant and Dec revealed Babatunde has been selected by the public to face the next Bushtucker Trial – titled Horrifying Heights – which will be broadcast on Tuesday night (November 8) – after being chosen over Owen Warner.

But after the big reveal, the presenting pair informed home audiences that Sue Cleaver, Boy George and Mike Tindall were all exempt from the next trial that viewers were already able to vote for. And it didn't go down well with I'm A Celebrity fans.

@LockedSoulXO tweeted: "What exactly is it that makes people exempt? If this was a life or death situation would they not be able to survive or?? #ImACeleb." @Nutbourne16 asked: "What’s the point if multiple ‘celebs’ are exempt?! #imaceleb."

@nharris1978 complained: "Why do they get celebs on who are exempt from challenges? If you're not fit enough to take part in all aspects of the show you shouldn't be there #ImACeleb." @MChristiana16 posted: "Nobody should be exempt. Waste of a spot in the jungle if you can't do the trials #ImACeleb." @Bobs_Lmk echoed: "If you are exempt from trials you shouldn’t be there #ImACeleb."

@CHEEEKYsausage commented: "I wish they would clarify why certain camp mates can't do a particular trial. What does it take to be exempt from this one? A graze? A scab? We only had 6 people to pick from #ImaCeleb." @Joanne_Conway typed: "Why are all these people exempt from the trials? What a joke!! #ImACeleb." @Rhilaaa added: "Omg, DO NOT START with half the camp being exempt! #imaceleb."
