ITV I'm A Celebrity fans predict 'TV gold' as Matt Hancock and Boy George set to face eating trial after tension

Matt Hancock ruffled some feathers when he appeared in the Australian jungle on Wednesday night (November 9) - and it wasn't just the viewers at home who were raging. The former health secretary's arrival came as a shock to his fellow I'm A Celebrity campmates including Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver, Channel 4 property presenter Scarlette Douglas and pop icon Boy George.

As the West Suffolk MP entered the camp as a late arrival alongside Seann Walsh, the celebrities wasted to time in quizzing the politician as to what he was doing in the jungle, instead of serving his constituents. There were awkward scenes as Boy George told Matt: “You’re really going to get it," before later revealing why he was so upset at the MP's arrival.

George confided in Scarlett as said that if his mum had died during the pandemic, he would have quit the show. "You know, beginning of the pandemic my mum was in hospital. I wasn’t allowed to see her. I thought she was going to die," the 80s star said.

"I was tweeting Greenwich hospital going, ‘Please look after my mum.’ I used my name, I was like ‘Please look after my mum.’ And they did, she was fine… I feel like, I don’t want to be sitting here like I’m having fun with him. It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I wouldn’t be here now. I would have gone when he walked in.”

And after a tense dinner around the camp, George told the Telegraph: "I don't know what to do with my feelings. I don't know whether I want to be here."

But hoping to defend himself, the former health sec insisted his decision was a 'great opportunity' to show people who he really is behind the seriousness of politics.

After being quizzed by his campmates Matt replied: “All politicians are known - and me in particular - for being in a very sort of strict way of being. Which is just not actually how we are.”

Matt, who was suspended as a Tory MP following his decision to sign up to the ITV show, was forced to take on a trial before heading into main camp and was also voted by the public to do the Tentacles of Terror Bushtucker Trial.

On Thursday night the MP got a full house of 11 stars to win meals for his campmates. But now in what will be his third task in three days - hosts Ant and Dec revealed that the public had chosen Matt to take on the first eating trial alongside Boy George.

As tension has arose between the two since Matt's arrival, viewers say they can't wait for the upcoming episode which will be 'TV gold'.

@krewatc said: "Ooooo Matt and boy George BOTH doing a trial together might be tv gold honestly."

@jamesjenningsW4 agreed: "I’m now expecting TV GOLD in #ImACeleb @imacelebrity with Matt and Boy George picked to do the EATING bushtucker trial - looking forward to seeing it."
