ITV I'm A Celebrity fans in stitches as they back new star of the show 'for the win'

I'm A Celebrity campmates have been joined by a latecomer to the jungle experience just over a week after the show launch. Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly left I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! fans in hysterics on Sunday night when they brought in a surprise friend to join them.

After former health secretary Matt Hancock was elected as camp leader, after beating former rugby playing royal Mike Tindall in a challenge, the camera cut to Ant and Dec with a lettuce. In a nod to the Daily Star's famous Liz Truss lettuce, which saw a humble salad staple outlast the UK's shortest-serving Prime Minister in power, the presenters presented their own on the desk in front of them.

They explained that they wanted see if their leafy pal would outlast Matt's term as camp leader. On Monday night they added to the fun by adding a face and legs, and they gave their lettuce a name.
