ITV I'm A Celebrity fans divided over line-up amid Boy George 'change' that has been explained

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here fans have been sharing their thought s after the line-up for this year's series was finally confirmed. It may have been a badly kept secret as the stars on the 2022 run were spotted arriving at Brisbane Airport last week but ITV has officially unveiled its latest campmates.

Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver, reality TV star Olivia Attwood, radio DJ Chris Moyles, rugby star and royal Mike Tindall, and Loose Women star Charlene White are just some of those who have headed to Australia to swap their everyday lives for life in the jungle as the ITV reality show returns to its spiritual home.

The big reveal comes as I'm A Celeb 2022 will be premiering on Sunday, November 6, at 9pm, with a 105-minute special. And as fans have already noticed, the start date is slightly earlier than usual to avoid a clash with the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in Qatar on Sunday, November 20.

Making up this year's batch of campmates are Boy George, Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner, TV presenter and property expert Scarlette Douglas, former footballer Jill Scott and comedian Babatunde Aleshe.

But unfortunately, there was a lot of the same comments as the line-up was revealed on social media. @mred.37 said: "Another year, and another roster where I only know one person." @l_morrisxx commented: "I literally know one person." @lewis._.clarkson shared: "No idea who any are." @mistermax04 cried: "Never heard of any."

@isobelgibson08 fumed: "Sadly I do not think I will be watching this year. I am sorry but I would have thought with it being the 20th anniversary and the first time in 2 years that you are allowed to go to Australia that you would have made a bit more effort than that. It looks thrown together. Never mind I guess, maybe next year." Cheryl Louise Alexander joked on Facebook: "I need to come out from under my rock as I have no idea who any of these are."

Ant and Dec will be back fronting the ITV reality show (ITV)

But @ruebrownn said: "Do I recognise any of them? No. Am I still going to watch every night? Absolutely." @zoominmumina argued: "For those that are saying they only know one person, clearly aren’t that clued up with TV, Radio, Sport etc. maybe you should take more of an interest rather than just watch I’m a celebrity once a year and moan about not knowing anyone." Anj Horne added: "Haven't heard of half of them to be honest but hey, let them get stuck in and we'll no doubt know them better very soon."

But there were plenty of people happy with the line-up. @matt.bawlerr commented: "Not a bad lineup tbf…" @andy_weemanc said: "Boy George get in there , not a bad line up this year." Katie Ruth Cornwell said on Facebook: "Cannot wait it's going to be pretty good I think. Only 2 people this year I've never heard of before so it's looking good. Think boy George and Chris moyles are going to be funny to watch. Bring it on."

Melissa Louise Minister echoed: "Good line up this year! Chris moyles and boy George are going to be class!" Hayley Edwards wrote: Excited!!!! Love Babutunde, Chris Moyles and the lovely Boy George!! This is gonna be a goodun peoples!!"

Boy George is sporting a slightly different look to the others (ITV)

Fans have also noticed that Boy George was sporting a different look to the others. The official photos for this year's campmates show them in their khaki green shirts and shorts or red trousers with matching hats, and walking boots. But the Culture Club star was seen grinning in a customised shirt.

@maxbiddle98 tweeted: "They had to let @BoyGeorge customise his jacket. Of course, he’s a legend." @ESCMarkk joked: "The way Boy George only agreed to do #ImACeleb if he could customise his jungle outfit." But @ESC_ODHRAN cried: "Why does Boy George look like he is wearing a clown outfit."

But there isn't much behind Boy George having a different outfit to his fellow celebrities. The only difference appears to be is that he asked. A show source told Metro that Boy George, whose real name is George Alan O’Dowd, enquired as to whether he could customise the garment for the promotional shoot, and ITV said yes.
