ITV I'm a Celebrity 'cliff hanger' ruined as cameras keep rolling after Ant and Dec announcement

ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here invariably ends on a 'cliff hanger'. However, Wednesday night's big reveal may have fallen flat after cameras kept rolling right after hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly delivered shock news to the campmates.

The latest episode of the programme saw campmates competing for an increased chance to enjoy an I'm A Celeb treat - a surf 'n' turf beach barbecue. Fired up by hunger, the celebs took part in series of challenges after the Geordie presenters confirmed that three lucky celebs would be taken out of the jungle and flown to a beach for a dining treat.

It was a programme first, according to Chronicle Live, and the celebs competed to win as many coloured balls as they could to try and win a place on the helicopter to the beach. Teams headed out to take on funfair themed challenges, campmates were given the opportunity to pick a ball which matched the colour of their teammates, rather than their own. Individual personality traits soon came through with some winners choosing to boost Owen Warner's chances after he had complained about being starving in the jungle.

In another twist, Ant and Dec told viewers that there wouldn't be a public vote for the next Bushtucker Trial. Instead, the decision on which three stars competed in the challenge would be left in the hands on the campmates themselves. This news was broken to the celebs in the dying moments of the show as the hosts made their way into camp.

Chris threw his arms up in the air in delight at the news. However, the whole point of the twist was that fans would have to tune into Thursday's episode to see which three campmates would take on the trial, but they ended up finding out straight away as a quick decision was made round the campfire while the cameras still rolled.

Following a brief discussion on who wanted to take on the Scareground trial and get a final opportunity to win balls for the barbecue prize, trial veteran Matt Hancock, Mike Tindall and Hollyoaks actor Owen all nominated themselves, before the camera cut back to Ant and Dec to end the show before credits rolled, with the presenters oblivious to the chat that had taken place behind them.
