Good Morning Britain viewers were left baffled by a 'creepy' comment Richard Madeley made to guest Chloe Kelly who appeared live on the show to chat about the Lionesses' historic Euro 2022 win over the weekend. The Manchester City star scored the winning goal in extra time for England against Germany during Sunday's game.
Her performance helped seal the team's win and the country's first-ever women's major tournament victory. The 24-year-old celebrated by taking her shirt off and swinging it around her head in delight as she ran around in her sports bra and shorts - while also getting booked for the privilege of the celebration.
And Chloe made her first TV appearance since the celebrations continued in central London on Monday (August 1) by appearing on GMB on Tuesday morning (August 2) to chat to Richard and co-host Kate about the incredible and inspiring win.

"It hasn't settled in yet. I think I'm just living in the moment," Chloe told the hosts. "And not really looking at my phone too much because I'm living in the now and taking it all in." When asked by Kate if the team have been able to take in the "bigness" of the occasion, Chloe says during the tournament herself and her teammates stayed "in their bubble" and "didn't listen to the outside world."
They then spoke about the public's relief over her goal, worried that the game would run to dreaded penalties. Asked whether penalties strike as much fear in them as it does England's men's team, Chloe said: "I don't think the girls ever thought of penalties.... I did say to the goalkeeper coach at halftime of extra time, I'm not fancying a penalty, and he said to me, well win it then."
The picture of Chloe celebrating scoring the winning goal has gone viral and has been flooded with praise. Speaking about the moment, Chloe said: "I'm taking my shirt off, I'm going crazy because a male footballer they'd be doing exactly the same so as a woman why can't we." She also added that it was the "best yellow card of her life."
But as the interview wrapped up, Richard and Kate heaped more praise on their guest and her teammates before thanking her for joining them. However, viewers were left perplexed when Richard, 66, called her 'Coco' as that's what he calls his daughter Chloe.
@VillaMad3 tweeted: "Richard that sounded really creepy. @GMB #GMB #CoCo." @meandmyviews99 said: "She is not Your Chloe! #GMB @GMB." @kellymew_ shared: "Richard calling Chloe Kelly Coco #GMB," alongside a sick face emoji and the monkey face with hands covering its eyes.
@FlopsyPickle complained: "Richard calling that lioness footballer the same nickname he calls his daughter is just creepy and totally inappropriate. She’s called Chloe, not Coco! #GMB #GoodMorningBritain." @YouBearsssssss commented: "You just dont Call Chloe Kelly "Coco" because that is what you call YOUR Daughter who is called Chloe. Show respect!! #GMB #Lionesses."
