ITV Good Morning Britain viewers make demand to ITV about Kate Garraway over Queen coverage

Good Morning Britain viewers have shared a message with ITV after Kate Garraway hosted its first Sunday episode. The 55-year-old presenter took to the helm of the ITV news programme after it aired over the weekend following the death of the Queen.

In a rare move, ITV chose to bring in its usual weekday presenters, including Kate, Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, to cover the historic event on rare Saturday and Sunday episodes of the news programme, which is usually on air Monday to Friday between 6am and 9am.

While Ben and Susanna hosted Saturday's show, with Kate back at Buckingham Palace as mourners headed to the Queen's central London home to pay their respects and leave tributes, Kate was back in the studio on Sunday. Kate was joined by various guests during the episode before the Queen's coffin began its journey to London from Balmoral, starting with a stop in Edinburgh.

Royal photographer Chris Jackson and royal commentator Emily Andrews were among those to join Kate in the studio. When asked what she thought about the Prince William and Harry's reunion, which was seen at Windsor on Saturday afternoon, Emily said: "I thought it was incredible for William and Harry to come out and be so assured and to meet the public and to share in their grief, because one does have to wonder as well whether this might bring back memories of the death of their mother."

Kate then commented: "I was wondering that, there’s potential triggering isn’t there? The rawness of that grief for whom William said in his statement, the Queen was absolutely there with him through those darkest days. And so to be there thinking about her passing… I mean very very poignant moments."

Kate had spent previous shows reporting from outside Buckingham Palace (ITV)

But as Kate hosted the show solo, fans were making a demand on social media. @ShellzJackson tweeted: "Chose Kate Garraway for Her Majesty’s final journey coverage. I feel like I’ve done the right thing. BBC is the norm, but I don’t feel I’ve don’t [sic] wrong choosing Kate

@Steadyeddie41 said: "What a moment and @kategarraway doing a fantastic job at covering events this morning. More of this please over the coming days." @Candyooke added: "#gmb Kate Garraway shows her professionalism on tv today. Her OB reports are so detailed and interesting a true professional."
