Viewers of ITV's Good Morning Britain have praised the stand-in replacement for Richard Madeley, describing him as a 'breath of fresh air. Richard, who typically co-hosts the breakfast show alongside Susanna Reid on Mondays to Wednesdays, was replaced on Monday, March 21.
He has been the host of the first three episodes of the week since before Christmas. Instead, money-saving expert Martin Lewis filled the 6am until 9am slot, and will do the same on Tuesday. In a tweet after the show, Martin said: "Thank you for having me @GMB and thanks for looking after me @susannareid100. Hope it was OK folks. I'm back tomorrow. Then that's my stint done. Now home for hours kip before starting my MSE work."
His appearance was well received by viewers, with many showing their preference for Martin over Richard. One such viewer, Seven Days, wrote on Twitter: "Martin is brilliant at this. He completely eclipses Cringard Madeley and Rinder, he also outclasses the over intense Suzanna Reid! Worth tuning in today."
Replying to Martin's tweet, Tick-tockingCroc said: "Breath of fresh air. Best wishes with whatever you’re moving onto next. I’m sure we’ll all continue to love it (not to mention benefit from it)." Stephen Corless shared their sentiments, adding: "Martin You were a breath of fresh air. Honesty, integrity and more importantly how much you Genuinely Care about us the People. Well Done"
Vivienne said: "Watched GMB for the first time in months because you were on. I presume ‘Partridge’ will be back on Wednesday and it will be back to Sky for me! Thank you for the positive and productive interview with the Health Secretary."
