ITV Good Morning Britain urged by some fans to sack Richard Madeley as backlash intensifies

After his latest faux pas on ITV Good Morning Britain, some fans of the show are demanding Richard Madeley be sacked by the programme.

It follows his remarks made on Tuesday's show while discussing the fall-out from Boris Johnson's claims that the now Labour leader "failed to prosecute" Jimmy Savile when he was the Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service between 2008 and 2013.

Madelely asked journalist Andrew Pierce on GMB whether it was a "big deal".

Richard addressed his controversial remarks on ITV GMB at the top of the programme on Wednesday, February 16.

He apologised saying: "I didn't quite address it properly... I just want to reiterate the obvious statement that death threats clearly are never acceptable."

But on social media, fans were angry - and have called for GMB to sack him and replace him as host.

One wrote: "Richard Idiot …diminishing death threats …(incited by the Prime Minister ), against the Keir Starmer. Sack the moron!"

Another said: "Just get rid of the dope. He really is a weak bucket."

While another fumed: "Death threats are not trivial and should be taken seriously. @GMB now need to sack Richard Madeley."

The comments continued, according to Birmingham Live.

"sack that Richard presenter," wrote social media contributor.

Another said: "Richard Madeley must apologise to Keir Starmer and Angela Raynor about his lack of any respect and his nastiness . GMB can do better?"

"Omg that pathetic attempt at an apology Richard Madeley exacerbated your disgusting remarks about death threats towards Keir Starmer yesterday ! GMB he needs to go !", wrote another.

With another writing: "I have never, in my whole 66 years, complained to Ofcom but I did today. Disgusting exchange between Richard Madeley and Andrew Pierce about death threats to Keir Starmer. You're a supposed news programme, you must have heard of Jo Cox and Davd Amess, yes?"
