Simon Calder has issued a warning to holidaymakers travelling over the school half term.
Families and other passengers have reported facing long queues and delays at airports across the UK as they try to jet off for half-term and before the upcoming Jubilee bank holiday. Flights have also been cancelled over the last week.
Passengers travelling from Manchester Airport shared their frustration yesterday as they faced huge queues for the TUI bag-drop. A video taken showed the queues out of Terminal 2 and stretching down the full length of the sky tunnel as people waited hours at the airport.

Today's edition of Good Morning Britain explored the issue. Simon told broadcasters Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins that he expects the chaos to last throughout the week. He said: "I'm afraid that I don't think that the coming weekend is going to be much better than the last weekend.
"They do not have enough staff at the airport and indeed on the airlines to run the services that people have quite understandably booked because they wanted their holiday." Simon expects the situation will improve from Monday.
He added: ""From Monday onwards its going to get a lot easier because demand will fall. The big question is how will the airports and airlines respond in July." However, summer holidays could be affected by further shortages as Simon said unions are planning a strike to protest against the working conditions.
He said: "We just heard from the GMB union representing some ground staff at Heathrow.
"Overnight, the Unite union has said they are fed up with British Airways as well and they are going to start balloting a week today - that closes on June 27. And if they do vote in favour of strike action, the earliest it could take place, I calculate, is July 11, which is just getting before the peak time."
Simon also urged holidaymakers to turn up on time for their flight. He said: "'ve got a flight tonight from Stansted. I've been told to get there three hours early. People will read three hours and think I'm gonna add an extra hour, two hours.
"That means you might get to the airport at 5am for your 10am flight. And you would be making a rational individual decision. The trouble is, if I'm in the queue and I've got a ticket for the 10am flight then people behind me who are on the 7am wave of flights aren't going to be able to get on.
