ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid intervenes as viewers 'switch over' after 'headache' from shouting guests

Good Morning Britain viewers found themselves reaching for the remote as shouting guests left them with a 'headache'. Susanna Reid and Ed Balls were back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Tuesday morning (November 8).

During the latest edition of the show, the pair were joined by Tom Burke and Esther Krakue who were asked to debate their views whether or not it’s a good time for the UK to pay climate compensation amid the cost of living crisis. It comes after Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said there is an "obligation" to provide funding to vulnerable countries suffering loss and damage from the climate crisis.

She made the comments to The Independent in Sharm el-Sheikh where the Cop27 global climate summit is taking place. Meanwhile, climate change campaigners are demanding Prime Minister Rishi Sunak give up to one trillion pounds in reparations to countries that suffer from the effects of climate change.

Chairman and Founding Director of E3G Tom Burke shared his belief that the UK has a loyal obligation to help during his appearance on GMB, meanwhile, broadcaster Esther Krakue argued that people in the UK cannot afford to do so and argued that there are issues here in the UK that need attention too.

Esther asked Tom: "Here’s the thing, why don’t you commit all of your money to this cause instead of telling the average Brit who is finding it hard to get by to do this? Because you never put your money where your mouth is..." But as she started to raise her voice, Tom then spoke over her to try and respond to her question.

He said: "I don’t doubt the average Brit in the way you doubt the average Brit, I think the average Brit is a bit better than you are!" The pair continued to talk over on another during the fiery exchange and as things continued to get heated between Tom and Esther, Susanna was forced to intervene.

Trying to cut in, she said: “We do have to leave it there! We do have to leave it there." She then added: "We came close to a point of agreement and then we sort of sailed away from it again. Tom, Esther, look, it’s a really lovely debate and your points of view really do reflect the divide in the country over these issues at the moment."

But GMB viewers didn't appear to agree with Susanna's conclusion and had their say on social media. @LeePartridge16 tweeted: "Wow, This woman speaks so fast & loud, giving me a headache, it’s only 7.30am, switching over #gmb." @DTHB_ commented: "Blinking Nora #GMB is a bit lively this morning All kicking off over #ClimateAction."

@StephMarbella pleaded: "@GMB Please stop this lady shouting and not letting anyone else speak!! It’s terrible to watch - can’t hear anyone’s argument at all!" @LushShirley60 shared: "#GMB Tell me when's she finished and I will turn the sound up again. Screaming and shouting never settled anything." @joannebenbrook added: "Just caught a bit of @GMB it’s like watching Hollyoaks with the really bad acting WTAF thought it was a news programme???"
