ITV Good Morning Britain's Richard Arnold makes cheeky dig at Kate Garraway over TV appearances

Richard Arnold couldn't help but make a cheeky comment at the expense of his Good Morning Britain co-star Kate Garraway. The entertainment editor was back on the ITV news programme on Friday (March 18) where he was reporting live from Leeds on the set of Emmerdale.

Richard was teasing upcoming scenes in the ITV soap after Meena Jutla made re-appearance for her plea hearing during Thursday night's trip to the Dales.

As well as that, the 52-year-old chatted about the upcoming Comic Relief sketches as the charity telethon returns to BBC One tonight (Friday) and the latest Disney+ offering, Moon Knight.

And after discussing Marvel's highly anticipated new miniseries, Richard made a cheeky quip to Kate who was back in the GMB studio with Ben Shephard. "And Kate, it's about the only thing you're not in at the moment my love," he said before adding: "You've got another little plug for yourself haven't you..."

It comes after Kate's second documentary on her husband Derek Draper's battle back from Covid aired last month and her new show on BBC One, Your Body Uncovered, also started. Earlier this week, Kate also appeared in a special episode of ITV's Love Your Garden as her own green space at her north London home underwent a 'wellbeing' makeover.

Kate replied: "I know... there's been so many things on the shelf getting dusty on the shelf and it's all come to everybody's attention at the same time, hasn't it?"

The 54-year-old laughed and said: "Sorry about that," before Richard told her: "Not at all, we love seeing you on the telly box."

Richard's comment came after it was announced on Thursday that Kate had landed a new ITV show away from her role on GMB.

The TV star, who also hosts her own Smooth Radio show weekdays from 10am to 1pm in between caring for her husband, Derek, and looking after their two children - Darcey, 16, and Billy, 12 - will present a brand new show following an ITV weekend schedule revamp. The broadcaster announced that Garraway’s Good Stuff will see Kate joined by friends and celebrities in a new lifestyle magazine show, due to be starting this spring.

Ben, 47, then ended up asking Kate about her latest role for ITV. "It's a new show... It's called 'Garraway's Good Stuff. Basically, you'll be relieved to know it's not just about me. It's Saturday's, 8 o'clock in the morning."

Turning to her co-host she said: "I've got you down for fashion, Ben", before continuing: "So many people have been so incredible to me and I've learnt a lot from them..." "Have you?" Ben sarcastically asked as Kate said with a smile: "Yeah... I have listed occasionally and so we've got some brilliant guests who will be great in their own right."

She then explained that all her guests on the show will be talking about how they stay positive as well as there being tips on how to save money and stay healthy. "It's going to be really good fun... I'll tell you more about that," Kate added before Ben said: "Who doesn't want to wake up with Garraway on a Saturday."
